how to care for it
Machine wash cool on a gentle cycle with a mild soap. Skip bleach and fabric softener. Lay them flat to dry. Heat can damage the elastic in the top band, so skip the dryer.
Ships within 1-3 business days. We're a small-batch brand and fulfill orders directly, arriving in approximately 3-7 business days depending on location.
Grown in America. Made in America.
These socks start on alpaca farms across the United States. The fiber is gathered from many farms, sent to American mills, and turned into socks. They are soft, light, and warm for their weight, made for cold mornings and long days on your feet.
Why alpaca
- Tiny air pockets. Many alpaca fibers have small hollow spaces inside. Trapped air helps hold in warmth without making the fiber heavy.
- Lanolin-free. Alpaca has none of the natural wool grease, called lanolin, that some people react to.
- Fine and soft. Baby alpaca is a fine grade of alpaca fiber.
- Natural colors. Alpacas come in many natural shades, so less dye is needed.
What's in them
- 96% baby alpaca yarn, with the remaining composition made up of nylon on the exterior for structure and durability and a small strip of elastane embedded in the top band.
- Made in the USA from USA alpaca fiber.
A note on color
Because the fiber comes from many farms and nature decides the shade, colors may vary slightly from the photos and from pair to pair. That is part of making them this way.
Care steps are listed below.
Materials & care
A soft, lightweight alpaca blend. Alpaca fiber has no lanolin. Hand wash it cold with a gentle wool-safe detergent. Do not rub it hard. That can cause felting. Lay it flat to dry and reshape it while it is damp. Never put it in the dryer or hang it while wet.
Shipping & returns
Shipping: The shipping rate is calculated at checkout. Shipping is free on orders of $150 or more. Orders leave our shop in 1 to 3 business days.
Returns: You can return most items within 14 days for an exchange or store credit. You pay return shipping unless the item arrives with a defect. Sale items marked "First collection. Final sale." cannot be returned.
Why it costs what it does
We pay makers and mills fairly for quality natural materials and sew in small batches instead of mass-producing overseas. That costs more up front, and it's why this piece is built to outlast a season instead of a wash cycle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does alpaca shrink when washed?
Alpaca felts less readily than sheep wool, but heat and agitation can still shrink it. Wash cold on a gentle cycle (or hand wash) and lay flat to dry rather than tumble drying.
What if I’m not sure the fit will work for me?
Check your measurements against our Sizing Guide before ordering. If the fit isn’t right, our return policy makes it easy to exchange for store credit. See our return policy and Sizing Guide for details.
Is alpaca itchy, or does it soften over time?
No. Alpaca fiber has no lanolin and a smoother scale structure than wool, so it's soft against skin without the itch some wool can cause.
Can I wear this while gardening, cooking, or outdoors?
Yes. Alpaca naturally wicks moisture and regulates temperature, so it holds up well through a full day of wear, errands, or outdoor activity, warm without overheating your feet.
How do I care for alpaca?
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, lay flat to dry. Avoid high heat, which can felt the fiber over time. See our Care Guide for the complete routine.
