The Case Against Fast Fashion for Families

Brand & Values: The Case Against Fast Fashion for Families

Fast fashion is designed around a specific bet: that you'll buy again soon, either because the trend changed or because the item wore out. For a family managing a real household budget, that bet is expensive in ways that don't show up on a single receipt.

A $12 shirt replaced four times costs more than one $38 shirt worn for the same four years, and that's before counting the time spent re-shopping, the landfill impact of the discarded ones, and the closet space taken up by things not worth keeping.

For households with kids especially, the math shifts further: fewer, sturdier basics mean less time spent replacing worn-out pieces and more pieces that can be handed down instead of thrown out.

We're not arguing for buying more of anything, including from us. We're arguing for buying deliberately, fewer pieces, chosen for durability, worn until they're actually done.
