We work directly with small mills rather than through anonymous overseas brokers, and we think that distinction matters enough to explain why.
Buying through a broker often means never knowing exactly which facility wove your fabric, under what conditions, or with what fiber quality. Buying directly means we can ask questions, request samples, and walk away from a relationship that doesn't hold up, and it means we can tell you, honestly, where a piece came from.
It also tends to mean smaller order minimums, which is part of why we produce in limited runs rather than restocking everything continuously. A small mill can't (and shouldn't have to) spin up mass-market volumes to work with us, and we'd rather stay a size that fits real workshops than force a scale that only serves warehouses.
We'll be sharing more specific supplier profiles here as those relationships mature and as we're able to share details respectfully and accurately. For now, the short version: we know where this fabric comes from, and we checked.
